MÖTLEY CRÜE's "secret" NYC show: see setlist and videos

Glam-metal stalwarts brought it back to "1981"

If you heard the Dogs of War barking last night (May 6th), that's because Glam heavies Mötley Crüe sneaked in a "secret" show at New York City's 600-capacity Bowery Ballroom.

The Crüe ended up billing themselves under the name "1981" for the night, which references the year they were formed, as well as the year they dropped debut single, "Live Wire," and first full-length Too Fast For Love. They even pressed up a new banner with the celebratory fake band name, which you can see in the fan footage up above and down below.

Fittingly, Mötley Crüe played some of those earliest songs, but they also plowed through "Dogs of War," their first single with new guitarist John 5, as well as a catalog-scouring covers medley of Sex Pistols, Brownsville Station, Beastie Boys and more.

The gig was just Crüe's third performance of the year, following back-to-back gigs in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on May 3rd and 4th. The band are also playing a number of festival and casino gigs throughout the summer — you can see the full touring details here.

Mötley Crüe similarly played a secret club show in London last year, and had said afterwards, "This wasn't our first time playing a secret club show and it will definitely not be the last."
